The Bassoon Ensemble from Wells Cathedral School, coached by Thomas Porter, had their first concert recently. They played an arrangement of 'Danny Boy' for bassoon quartet, 'Tango for 3 Bassoons' by Michael J Norris, and even threw in a surprise number at the end; a popular theme arranged by one of the ensemble's own bassoonists, which really suited the jovial nature of the instrument. The concert was held in the wonderful setting of the Music School, pictured below.

The Bassoon Ensemble contains both specialist and non-specialist bassoon players at the school with ages ranging from 12 to 18 years. Thomas really enjoys working with these talented musicians and he looks forward to their next concert.
